the big breakfast, Hawksmoor style

On Monday morning I was taken to Hawksmoor Guildhall for an early Valentines treat

This is the 3rd branch of the hugely successful Hawksmoor group of which myself and Mr R are BIG fans.

Their Seven Dials restaurant is without a doubt our fave place to celebrate a birthday, anniversary or other special occasion with one of their seriously good steaks, so I was looking forward to sampling their breakfast and checking out the newest space.

Housed in an old gentlemans club of yesteryear, the restaurant has a decadent early 19th century art deco feel to it, walking down the staircase from reception it reminded me a little of the Titanic.

incredibly many of the features are not in fact original but have been sourced
(for example the wood panelling in the dining room came from the National History Museum)

The food was delicious!

I would highly recommend the wild mushrooms on toast with poached eggs hollandaise

and my man raved about the sausage and egg HkMuffin
(a posh take on the Maccy D's equivalent!)

ok, ok so these are not the actual pictures, do you honestly think we were concerned with photography at this point? nope there was no time for that, we just wanted to eat!

However these are snaps from the restaurants very own cook book 'Hawksmoor at Home' which Mr R gave to me at Christmas, and I can vouch that they look exactly the same as what was served to us!

The best surprise was that there was even a breakfast cocktail list!

Bucks fizz, bloody marys, a marmalade cocktail - all kinds of offerings, but we each plumped for the cornflake hardshake (with a slug of bourbon)
mmmmmmm. . .

A perfect little breakfast date!

Highly recommend it!
