Travel Notes - a wander in Whitstable

With my little bro visiting for the last time before he leaves for his year abroad we decided to take off for a day at the beach.

We have been to Brighton many a time so decided to explore pastures new.

We jumped on a train and an hour and a half later found ourselves transported to a quaint little seaside town scattered with painted beach huts, bunting and oyster shacks.

we paid a visit to the following stores on Harbour street

Warehams  for antique homewares and garden furniture

Valentines for retro homeware, furniture and clothing

Frank for handmade and home made craftsy gifts, greetings cards, jewellery and art work

you can hire a bicycle or even a tandem from Whitstable cycle hire they offer advice on local routes and even guided tours

and for fish and chip fans a visit to Jones is a MUST!

They have been trading for nearly 50 years and had queues out the door and down the street but they were worth the wait, piping hot with lashings of salt and vinegar-scrumdidlyumptious!

As we walked along the beach with our chips I couldn't believe my luck to find the perfect sized oyster shell to display a little charm of the globe which I had got for my brother as a going away keepsake

I glued the charm into the shell and gave it to him as a reminder that
' the world is your oyster' along with a scrapbook journal I made for him packed with baby photographs from when we were kids and well wishes from all of the family.
